ServSafe Food Protection Manager Exam – Overview
The ServSafe Food Protection Manager Exam is a nationally recognized certification exam developed by the National Restaurant Association and accredited by ANSI. It assesses knowledge of critical food safety concepts, including safe food handling, cross-contamination prevention, time and temperature control, and cleaning and sanitation.
Why It Matters
Passing the exam demonstrates that you have the knowledge and skills to manage food safety risks in a foodservice operation. In many states and counties, ServSafe Manager Certification is required by law for at least one person in every food establishment.
What to Expect at the In-Person Proctor Exam
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID.
The exam is multiple choice and must be taken in-person with a certified proctor.
You will have up to 2 hours to complete the exam.
A quiet, distraction-free environment is provided.
No study materials, phones, or smart devices are allowed during the exam.
Upon passing, you will receive a Food Protection Manager Certificate valid for 5 years.
