Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pork: In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Rub the pork shoulder with olive oil, then coat with the spice mixture. Let it sit for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator for better flavor.
  2. Cook the Pork: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Place the pork shoulder in a large roasting pan. Mix the apple cider vinegar, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard, and liquid smoke. Pour around the pork in the roasting pan. Cover tightly with foil.
  3. Bake: Roast the pork in the oven for about 6-8 hours, until the meat is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork. Alternatively, you can use a slow cooker set to low for 8-10 hours.
  4. Shred the Pork: Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes. Shred the pork using two forks, discarding any excess fat. Mix the shredded pork with some of the cooking juices to keep it moist.
  5. Serve: Serve the pulled pork with BBQ sauce on buns, alongside coleslaw, or as desired.
